Nintendo’s bigged-up DS may be placed well as a better gaming device with a 93pc bigger screen than the current model but it also puts the new XL squarely in the e-book reader category.

Nintendo has already seen this market moving with the announcement of the Apple iPad as well as the recent Kindle XL and on 14 June it will be releasing 100 Classic Books bringing Shakespeare, Austen and more classics of English literature to the handheld games console.
